Zusammenfassung

Der Bakteriophage T4 ist wahrscheinlich der am besten untersuchte intemperente Virus, aber es gibt viele andere Viren, die ebenfalls eingehenden Untersuchungen unterzogen wurden. In diesem Kapitel werden ausgewählte Phagen beschrieben, um den hohen Grad genetischer Verschiedenheit zu zeigen, der dem Bakteriengenetiker zur Verfügung steht, und um Vergleiche zwischen diesen verschiedenen Phagen untereinander und mit T4 zu ziehen. Um diese Vergleiche zu erleichtern, werden die physikalischen Eigenschaften jedes Phagen in der Tabelle 5-1 zusammengefaßt, die in diesem Kapitel besprochen werden.
