Summary
The introduction deals with the principle of operation of programmable controllers and the reasons for their application. This is followed by a description of the languages used in the planning of PC systems. A hierarchical language model illustrates what possibilities there are for arriving at technology-oriented structures for given automation tasks. Alternative editor concepts also exist for graphic input.
An explanation is also given of the basic principles of debugging, visualisation and diagnostics functions and the displays associated with these.
