Summary

This contribution deals with methods for the detection of critical states in chemical reactors. These methods are similar to those of pattern recognition. In their structure is applied a-priori-information on process behaviour. When using these algorithms the critical states will be detected in early stages. Then one can adopt adequate countermeasures to save the plant.
