Abstract
The evaluation of general GERT networks which contain non-STEOR nodes not only within pre-basic element structures requires in most cases great effort as we have seen in chapter 4. As a rule, it is therefore recommended to evaluate such networks by suitable simulation methods 1). For this purpose PRITSKER et al. have developed several simulation programs, for example, the program GERTS III and its improved versions GERTS 111Q (for the simulation of stochastic networks which are coupled with queueing processes), GERTS 111C (with consideration of project costs), and GERTS IIIR (inclusion of resources of limited availability). In the following we will briefly sketch the essential procedure for the simulation of GERT networks patterned after GERTS III. For a detailed treatment of simulation we refer to PRITSKER [19] and WHITEHOUSE [25], chapter 9.
