Zusammenfassung
In Maxwells Konzeption sind die elektrischen Kräfte im Grunde noch mechanistisch als elastische Spannungen im Äther beschreibbar. Wenn diese Ansicht zutrifft, so kann man die Fortpflanzung einer elektromagnetischen Welle weitgehend in Analogie zur Fortpflanzung des Schalls verstehen. Dabei kommt besonderes Interesse der Frage nach der Lichtgeschwindigkeit in bewegten Körpern zu.
