On the Dynamics and Trajectories of Evolution Processes

Biogenesis Evolution Homeostasis

Abstract

René THOM has described a general theory of morphogenesis. He points out the importance of attractors of systems trajectories and of catastrophes (generalized bifurcation points). The present paper suggests to replace the dynamic law in the form of differential equations by probabilistic laws in order to describe evolution processes. The main features of THOM’s theory remain valid, in particular attractor phenomena can be interpreted as corresponding to biological species. For the case where a function exists that corresponds to the potential function of a gradient field the author has observed attractor phenomena in simulations of evolution processes. Finally, connections with optimization algorithms are pointed out.
