Abstract
Notwithstanding the vital role population movements have played in the history of human civilization, our knowledge of the social psychology of these phenomena is still limited. This is also true of the inter- and intranational migrations of our times. Their impact on mental health is even less known. A short survey on some facts and experiences in the field of voluntary migration with emphasis laid on international migration may throw some light on this hitherto hardly explored field of mental health.
