Zusammenfassung

Die klinische Notwendigkeit und das Bewußtsein neuer technischer Möglichkeiten hatten zu einer raschen Entwicklung der Herzchirurgie geführt, nachdem durch die moderne Intubationsnarkose und die Antibiotica der Weg grundsätzlich geebnet war. Auch die Korrektur von Herzklappenfehlern wurde durch den Ausbau der Verfahren der Hypothermie, der Herz-Lungen-Maschine einschließlich der Coronarperfusion und der elektrischen Fibrilation, Defibrilation und des Pacemakers ermöglicht.
