Zusammenfassung

Unser zunehmendes Interesse an der chirurgischen Behandlung erworbener Herzfehler ist durch ihre relative Häufigkeit und Krankheitsbedeutung sowie durch die Möglichkeit begründet, in vielen Fällen durch kurative oder palliative Maßnahmen echte Besserung zu erzielen. Die Bemühungen um eine Verbesserung der Behandlungswege sind indessen noch nicht abgeschlossen.
