Zusammenfassung
Mit den Werken von Faegri und v. D. Pijl sowie von Percival erschienen nach langer Zeit wieder englischsprachige Fachbücher. Obwohl Erstgenanntes das wesentliche in knapper Form bringt, ist es eine Fundgrube für wenig bekannte Quellen und Daten und leistet allein damit, die Pollinationsökologie der Tropen in das gebührende Licht zu rücken, einen bedeutenden Dienst. Auch der phylogenetische Aspekt wird erstmals betont. Wo sich Grundfragen der Anpassung erheben, folgen die Autoren der Selektionstheorie, halten aber doch mit deren totalitärer Anwendung zurück. Der auch der angewandten Praxis dienliche Leitfaden von Percival wendet sich in erster Linie an den Studenten und berücksichtigt besonders die neuere Methodik.
