Zusammenfassung

Die in den letzten Jahren zur Frage der Wachstumsregulation vorgelegten Daten konnten den Eindruck entstehen lassen, als seien alle Phytohormone zur Aktivierung spezifischer Gene und in der Folge zur Induktion der Synthese spezifischer Proteine befähigt. Einem derartigen Induktionsprozeß wurde die Schlüsselfunktion bei der Regulation des Teilungs- und Streckungswachstums zugeschrieben. Die hormonale Wachstumssteuerung schien damit zumindest in ihren Grundzügen geklärt zu sein. Inzwischen legte jedoch Trewavas (1) eine kritische Zusammenfassung aller Fakten vor, die bisher über Zusammenhänge zwischen hormonal reguliertem Wachstum und Nucleinsäuresynthese erarbeitet worden sind. Darin weist er auf eine Reihe widersprüchlicher Deutungen und methodischer Mängel hin, die jede generalisierende Interpretation der Biochemie der Auslösung des Wachstumsvorgangs zumindest verfrüht erscheinen läßt. Außerdem sind gerade im vergangenen Berichtsjahr weitere Ergebnisse veröffentlicht worden, die ebensowenig in Übereinstimmung mit der Vorstellung zu bringen sind, nach der die Wachstumsregulation primär aus einer Genaktivierung gedeutet werden kann. Die Frage der Primärwirkung der Phytohormone im Prozeß der Wachstumsregulation ist also weiterhin offen.
