Zusammenfassung

Albers-Schönberg beschrieb 1904 eine generalisierte Knochenerkrankung, deren nosologische Selbständigkeit vor allem durch die genetischen Untersuchungen gesichert wurde. Synonyme Begriffe der Marmorknochenkrankheit (als „marble bones“ in der anglo-amerikanischen, als, „os de marbre“ in der französischen und als „morbo marmoreo“ in der italienischen Literatur bezeichnet) sind: „Albers-Schönberg disease“, „Osteopetrosis“ (Karshner) und „Osteosclerosis fragilis generalisata“ (Laurell und Wallgren ). Bezeichnungen wie „Morbus eburneus“, „maladie des os d’ivoire“, „diffuse Osteosklerose (Nadolny) sowie „congenital osteosclerosis“ (Ellis) werden heute kaum mehr verwendet.
