Zusammenfassung

Die systematischen Publikationen größeren Umfanges fassen die Pilze polyphyletisch auf [Ainsworth, Alexopoulos (1), VON Arx, Hawker] ; Unterschiede bestehen in der Zahl und in der Umgrenzung der verschiedenen Entwicklungslinien. Keinesfalls bestehen bleiben kann die Unterteilung der niederen Pilze in Archimyceten und Phycomyceten. An ihre Stelle treten eine Anzahl selbständiger Entwicklungsreihen im Range eigener Klassen. Sie gründen sich zum Teil auf der Begeißelung ihrer Zoosporen (Couch, Sparrow), zum Teil auf Thallusmerkmalen, dem Zellwandchemismus und der sexuellen Reproduktion. Eine phylogentische Betrachtung, welche auf Ernährungsansprüchen aufbaut, gibt Cantino.
