Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung der Themenkreise „Piastiden“ und „Mitochondrien“ baut auf dem Bericht in Fortschr. Botan. 28 (1966) auf. Bei der Darstellung der Rolle von Piastiden und Mitochondrien als Erbträger stößt der Berichterstatter auf eine bemerkenswerte Eigentümlichkeit der gegenwärtigen Situation: Die biochemische und elektronenmikroskopische Bearbeitung der Piastiden und Mitochondrien hat in stürmischer Entwicklung eine außerordentlich große Fülle von Ergebnissen gebracht, welche diese Organellen als Träger spezifischer genetischer Information charakterisieren. Demgegenüber verlief die Entwicklung der rein genetischen Arbeiten zur Piastiden- und Mitochondrienvererbung relativ langsam und war zu einem großen Teil auf die detaillierte Ausarbeitung prinzipiell bereits bekannter Phänomene gerichtet. Die Verbindung und Vereinigung dieser Forschungsrichtungen zu einer Molekulargenetik der extrachromosomalen Erbträger ist zwar an verschiedenen Stellen in Angriff genommen worden und hat auch — bezüglich der Mitochondrien — bereits zu einigen sehr wichtigen Resultaten geführt; sie ist aber in voller Breite für Piastiden und Mitochondrien noch nicht vollzogen. Es ist zu erwarten, daß dies in allernächster Zukunft erfolgt.
