Zusammenfassung
Trotz zahlreicher Untersuchungen, die allerdings besonders bei den verschiedenen Formen hämolytischer Anämien durchgeführt wurden, ist es auch heute noch nicht genau bekannt, auf welche Weise die Erythrocyten am Ende ihrer Lebenszeit beim normalen Individuum aus der Zirkulation verschwinden und abgebaut werden. Man hat berechnet, daß in der Sekunde ungefähr 3 Mill. Zellen zugrunde gehen. Dennoch sind die morphologischen Anzeichen für diesen Abbau außerordentlich spärlich. Besser bekannt sind die verschiedenen Veränderungen, die sowohl im Hinblick auf den Stoffwechsel wie auf Zusammensetzung und Form der Erythrocyten mit zunehmender Alterung auftreten. Es liegt nahe, diese Veränderungen mit dem schlußendlichen Abbau in Beziehung zu setzen. Auf Grund der Verhältnisse bei pathologischen Hämolyseformen bestehen im wesentlichen folgende Abbaumechanismen: osmotische Lyse, Lyse durch chemische, bakterielle oder Antikörper-Einwirkung, mechanische Schädigung, Phagocytose und Beeinträchtigung von Enzymen, die für die Aufrechterhaltung des Zellstoffwechsels und der Zellform von Bedeutung sind.
