Zusammenfassung

Nachdem über ein halbes Jahrhundert vergangen ist, seit das Interesse der Forscher auf den Begriff des Morbus Banti gelenkt worden war, kann man sagen, daß das Bedeutsame dabei nicht so sehr die Erkenntnis einer neuen Krankheit war, als vielmehr die Tatsache, daß mit diesen Gedankengängen der Milz eine eigene und autonome Pathologie zuerkannt wurde. Man braucht sich nur zu erinnern, wie vor BupANTI die Zusammenhänge zwischen Milz und Leber einseitig ausgerichtet schienen, dergestalt, daß die Milz unweigerlich die Folgen der Leberveränderungen tragen mußte, wie es deutlich der Stauungs-Milztumor bei Lebercirrhose zu beweisen schien („rate hépatique“ der Franzosen).
