Zusammenfassung

Der diagnostische Wert der Cavographie in der Beurteilung von thrombotischen Veränderungen der Vena cava inferior und zur Lokalisation von retroperitonealen Tumoren ist erst während der letzten Jahre allgemein erkannt worden. Die erste klinische Anwendung der Cavographie erfolgte jedoch schon 1935 durch R. Dos Santos für die Abklärung einer operativen Verletzung der Vena cava inferior. Erst 1947 wiesen Fariñas und O’Loughlin unabhängig von einander an Hand kleiner Patientengruppen auf den Wert der Cavographie in der Tumordiagnostik hin. Fast gleichzeitig benützten Martorell (1948) und Olivier (1951) die Methode zur Beurteilung von thrombotischen Prozessen in der Vena cava inferior. Erst Helander und Lindbom (1956, 1959) prüften die diagnostischen Möglichkeiten der Cavographie an einem größeren Krankengut vor allem zur Abklärung von retroperitonealen Tumoren. Seither hat sich die Cavographie immer mehr durchgesetzt und es sind in letzter Zeit zahlreiche Arbeiten erschienen, die sich mit Technik, Indikation und den verschiedenen diagnostischen Problemen dieser phlebo-graphischen Untersuchungsmethode befassen (Keshishian und Spencer 1954, Kaufman et al. 1956a und b, Bourgeon et al. 1956, 1960, Bonte und Cordier 1957, Notter und Helander 1958, Sammöns et al. 1959, 1961, Lindbom 1960, Fuchs 1961a, O’Loughlin 1961, Rüttimann 1962, Vandendorp et al. 1962, Filler et al. 1962, Holtz und Powers 1962, Lamarque et al. 1962, Stein und Blumsohn 1962).
