Zusammenfassung
Die Splenektomie als therapeutische Maßnahme bei Erkrankungen des hämatopoetischen Systems ist seit Anfang dieses Jahrhunderts in zunehmendem Maße geübt worden. Dabei waren die pathophysiologischen Grundlagen für diesen Eingriff und dessen Wirkung auf die blutbüdenden Organe in keiner Weise klar. Man war auch über die normale Funktion der Milz hinsichtlich des Blutbüdes und seiner Regulation im ungewissen. Die Indikationssteilung zur Splenektomie beruhte z. T. auf reiner Empirie, z. T. auf Konzeptionen einer bestimmten Milzwirkung, deren sichere Darsteüung aber nicht immer möglich war.
