Zusammenfassung

In den letzten Jahren sind einige zusammenfassende Darstellungen des Gebietes erschienen: R. Sager und F. J. Ryan geben eine lehrbuchartige Zusammenschau der „Cellulargenetik“, welche bis zu den zunehmend sich klärenden molekularen Grundlagen von Vererbung und Erbwandel vorstößt und an deren Front vorwiegend mit Mikroben experimentiert worden ist und noch wird. Auch die „Chemische Genetik“ von B. S. Strauss baut vor allem auf Mikroben auf. W. Hayes stellte eine Serie Übersichtsreferate verschiedener Autoren zusammen, und im 10. Symposium der englischen Society of General Microbiology wurde ebenfalls der heutige Stand der Mikrobengenetik überblickt. R. W. Kaplan faßte die bis 1959 gewonnenen Erkenntnisse über die Strahlengenetik der Mikroorganismen unter Berücksichtigung der gesamten Literatur zusammen. Auch in den Annual Reviews of Microbiology und of Biochemistry sind wiederum einige Gebiete der Mikrobengenetik referiert. All diese Monographien sind am Anfang der Literaturliste aufgeführt.
