Zusammenfassung
Seit der ersten zusammenfassenden Darstellung über kongenitale Atresien des Digestionstraktes aus der Feder eines Chirurgen (Kreuter 1905) sind über 50 Jahre verflossen. Während 1875 Hüttenbrenner noch feststellte, daß die Diagnose dieses Leidens nur durch den Pathologen zu stellen sei, hatte sich die Situation nach Kreuter bis um die Jahrhundertwende grundlegend gewandelt. Pädiater und Geburtshelfer hatten jetzt die Symptomatologie der angeborenen Verschlüsse des Magen-Darm-Kanals kennengelernt. Die Diagnose war nun mehr intra vitam möglich geworden. Parallel mit diesem Fortschritt entwickelte sich das Interesse der Chirurgen, denen ein neues weites Behandlungsgebiet eröffnet wurde. Verbesserung der diagnostischen Möglichkeiten, Verfeinerung der chirurgischen Technik, Vervollkommnung des Wissens um die Besonderheiten prä- und postoperativer Maßnahmen im Neugeborenenalter haben heute die Behandlung der Atresien des Digestionstraktes so weit gedeihen lassen, daß nicht mehr vereinzelte kasuistische Mitteilungen über operative Erfolge Auskunft geben, sondern an kinderchirurgisch interessierten Kliniken sind Erfahrungen gesammelt worden, die es ermöglichen, diagnostische und therapeutische Richtlinien zu erarbeiten. Ferner erlaubt die aufmerksame Sichtung des Krankengutes zu den noch offenstehenden Fragen der Ätiologie der hier interessierenden Fehlbildungen Stellung zu nehmen.
