Résumé

Les anévrysmes de l’aorte ne sont entrés dans le domaine chirurgical, que au cours de ces dernières années: cependant, au début du siècle, des essais isolés avaient été tentés, de résection d’anévrysmes latéraux: le nom de TUFFIER mérite à cet égard de rester attaché au traitement chirurgical des anévrysmes, puisque le premier, il tentait la cure d’un anévrysme sacculaire de l’aorte ascendante. Cette intervention très en avance sur son temps, fut un échec, renouvelé quelques années plus tard. Aussi, les anévrysmes de l’aorte demeurèrent-ils pendant plusiers décades, des affections purement médicales, jusqu’au jour où l’on proposa à leur égard, les méthodes palliatives du wiring et du wrapping, qui leur firent ainsi retrouver un certain intérêt thérapeutique. Bientôt pourtant, on assista sinon à la faillite, tout au moins à l’échec trop fréquent de ces méthodes, et l’on en vint alors à prôner à nouveau l’exérèse de la lésion, avec suture latérale de l’aorte en cas d’anévrysme sacciforme, avec rétablissement de la continuité par l’interposition d’un greffon, en cas d’anévrysme fusiforme.
