Résumé

La communication de Landry (1859) ne comportait qu’un seul cas exposé en détail, à côté de cinq autres cas personnels et de cinq cas tirés de la littérature. Dans le seul cas donné en détail, après une période douloureuse de dix mois, apparut, en une huitaine de jours, une paralysie débutant par les membres inférieurs et finissant par tous les nerfs craniens, avec des troubles sensitifs douteux des doigts et des pieds, superficiels et profonds, et une température normale. A l’autopsie, Landry retint une pneumonie et des traces de pleurésie. Les nerfs ne furent pas examinés. Deux cas sur dix de sa série étaient mortels.
