Zusammenfassung

„Krankheit“ ist als Begriff, als subjektives Erlebnis und objektives Ereignis kaum allgemeingültig zu definieren. Infektionskrankheiten werden durch Bakterien und andere Mikroben verursacht, die den Organismus „krank“ machen. Indessen können aber pathogene Organismen jeder Art — Bakterien, Pilze, Viren, Rickettsien, Protozoon usw. — in aktiver Form im Gewebe oder selbst im Blut eines empfänghchen Wirtes vorkommen, ohne daß Krankheitszeichen auftreten. Wirt und Parasit können sich ignorieren oder wenigstens tolerieren (41). Zur Manifestierung einer Infektion oder einer anderen Schädigung als Krankheit muß offenbar das Gleichgewicht zwischen Noxe und Organismus in besonderer Weise gestört, die Reaktionsart des Organismus spezifisch ausgeprägt sein.
