Zusammenfassung

Den heutigen Stand der wichtigsten allgemeinen Fragen der Pflanzenverbreitung hat W. B. Turill in einem anregenden Vortrag an Hand zum Teil neuer Beispiele darzustellen versucht. Viele Grundfragen, z. B. hinsichtlich der Beurteilung der Disjunktionen, sind noch lange nicht abschließend geklärt. Für weitere Fortschritte erscheinen notwendig: 1. Die Gewinnung weit zahlreicherer, zuverlässiger Beobachtungen über die Wirksamkeit der Verbreitungsmittel (besonders Wind und Vögel). 2. Ein ausgedehnteres Studium der fossilen Angiospermenfloren. 3. die Behandlung der Verbreitungsprobleme mit den Methoden der “New Systematic” (Genetik, Zytologie, experimentelle Ökologie usw.), wie dies ja auch schon mehrfach geschehen ist. Für die Flora der Britischen Inseln hat Walters einen ähnlichen Überblick gegeben.
