Zusammenfassung

Wirksame Extrakte aus Nebennieren, die lebenserhaltend, bei adrenalektomierten Tieren wirkten, wurden erstmalig von Pfiffner und Swingle (1) dargestellt. Mitte der dreißiger Jahre wurden aus diesen wirksamen Extrakten von Kendall (2), Reichstein (3, 4, 5) und Wintersteiner (6) eine Reihe von neuen Steroiden kristallisiert, deren Konstitution aufgeklärt wurde. Sechs von den insgesamt 28 Stoffen, die aus der Nebennierenrinde isoliert werden konnten, besitzen eine typische Cortin-Wirksamkeit, die mit mehreren verschiedenen Testen erfaßt werden kann, worauf hier nicht eingegangen werden soll.
