Zusammenfassung

Das epidemische Fleckfieber ist eine durch die Rickettsia prowazeki (Rocha-Lima 1916) verursachte akute, cyclische Allgemeininfektion mit weitgehend normierter Fieberdauer von etwa 14 Tagen, die bei günstigem Ausgang eine zuverlässige, langanhaltende Immunität hinterläßt. Das Krankheitsbild erhält durch das typische Exanthem, den Fieberverlauf (Kontinua) und besonders durch das Hervortreten encephalitischer Erscheinungen sein charakteristisches Gepräge. Die Übertragung erfolgt durch die Kleiderlaus von Mensch zu Mensch.
