Zusammenfassung

Die 1987 publizierte CONSENSUS-I-Studie zeigte erstmals, dass mit der Gabe von ACE-Hemmern, hier Enalapril, die Mortalität von Patienten mit schwerer Herzinsuffizienz (NYHA IV) reduziert werden kann [3]. Obwohl der 10-Jahres-Followup der Patienten der CONSENSUS-I-Studie auch unter kontinuierlicher Therapie mit ACE-Hemmern eine weiterhin unbefriedigend hohe Mortalität zeigte [9], wurde mit dieser Studie doch erstmals die neurohumorale Hypothese bei der Herzinsuffizienz klinisch eindrücklich bestätigt.
