Zusammenfassung
Seit der Entdeckung der antipsychotischen Eigenschaften des Phenothiazin-Derivats Chlorpromazin vor über drei Jahrzehnten wurde eine große Anzahl strukturell unterschiedlicher Neuroleptika (z. B. Butyrophenone, Benzamide und Thioxanthene) in die klinische Praxis eingeführt. Mehrere Untersuchungen haben die klinische Beobachtung bestätigt, daß zumindest einige dieser Substanzen neben ihren wohlbekannten antipsychotischen Eigenschaften möglicherweise auch anxiolytische und/oder antidepressive Eigenschaften haben, insbesondere in niedriger Dosierung (z.B. Pöldinger 1991, Osterheider 1991, Beneke, Tegeler, dieser Band). Diese zusätzlichen Eigenschaften wurden für das Thioxanthen-Derivat cis-Flupentixol ausführlich beschrieben.
