Zusammenfassung
Das autonome Nervensystem spielt bei der Entstehung zahlreicher atrialer und ventrikulärer Rhythmusstörungen eine entscheidende Rolle (3, 22, 33). Die Auslösung von Vorhofflimmern durch starke vagale Reize wurde bereits Anfang unseres Jahrhunderts von Lewis et al. wenige Jahre nach der klinischen Erstbeschreibung von Vorhofflimmern durch Hering (13) beschrieben (21). Diesen initialen Beobachtungen folgten dann zahlreiche systematische experimentelle Studien, die die Bedeutung des autonomen Nervensystems bei der Genese von Vorhofflimmern untersuchten. Schließlich haben Untersuchungen an Patienten mit Vorhofflimmern klinische und elektrokardiographische Befunde ergeben, die die pathophysiologische Rolle des autonomen Nervensystems bei der Entstehung dieser Rhythmusstörungen klären helfen. Im folgenden werden diese experimentellen und klinischen Daten zusammengefaßt.
