Zusammenfassung
In den vorausgegangenen Kapiteln wurden durchweg aggregierte Produktionsfunktionen untersucht und auf ökonomische Fragestellungen angewendet. Die vielen recht unterschiedlichen Güter, die in einer Branche oder in der Volkswirtschaft produziert werden, wurden zu einer einzigen Variablen (Output) zusammengefaßt. Analog wurden die Kapitalgüter zu der einen Größe „Kapital“ zusammengefügt. Auch wurde nicht von einzelnen Arten von Arbeitskräften gesprochen, sondern von dem Arbeitseinsatz. Die Verwendung solcher Aggregate ist oft nicht nur sinnvoll, um ökonomische Prozesse zu analysieren, sondern auch notwendig, da die große Zahl und die Unterschiedlichkeit der Produkte, Kapitalgüter und Arbeitskräfte eine explizite Berücksichtigung aller Einzelposten nicht zuläßt. Die Aggregation ist jedoch nicht problemlos. Sie kann oft gar nicht oder nicht so durchgeführt werden, daß die entstehenden Aggregate für ökonomische Analysen brauchbar sind. Das hiermit angesprochene Aggregationsproblem existiert in der Ökonomie allgemein, es ist nicht auf die Produktionstheorie beschränkt1). Es ist jedoch vornehmlich im Rahmen der Produktionstheorie aufgeworden und diskutiert worden, und hier besonders im Hinblick auf das Aggregat „Kapital”. Nicht zuletzt unter dem Einfluß eines Aufsatzes von J. Robinson [1953/54] ist diskutiert worden, was das Aggregat „Kapital“ in aggregierten Produktionsfunktionen überhaupt besagt, wie es zu bilden ist, und für welche Zwecke Produktionsfunktionen verwendet werden können, in denen es als Argument enthalten ist.
