Die Informationstechnik — gesehen als die technische Disziplin, die durch Integration der Gebiete Nachrichtentechnik, Informatik, Mikroelektronik und Automatisierungstechnik (Regelungstechnik) in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten entstanden ist — stellt allgemein einen wichtigen Pfeiler in der Technik dar.
