Zusammenfassung
Die Frage nach den Auswirkungen des elterlichen Alkoholismus auf heranwachsende Kinder und Jugendliche ergibt sich zunächst aus der relativ hohen Prävalenz des Alkoholismus, die mit etwa 2,5% in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und West-Berlin deutlich über der anderer psychiatrischer Störungen liegt. Innerhalb dieser Population Alkoholkranker sind 20% Frauen und 10% Jugendliche. Diesen direkt Betroffenen steht eine epidemiologisch hinsichtlich der Prävalenz nicht sicher schätzbare, gleichwohl aber nicht unbeträchtliche Zahl indirekt betroffener leiblicher Kinder und Jugendlicher gegenüber, die z. T. gravierende Schädigungen erleiden. Ursachen dieser Beeinträchtigung können aus drei theoretisch nicht unverbundenen Quellen stammen: genetischen, umgebungsbedingten und teratogenen Einflüssen.
