Zusammenfassung

Der Reaktorunfall in Tschernobyl im April 1986 hatte eine tiefgreifende und langandauernde öffentliche Beunruhigung über die radioökologischen Auswirkungen auf die Bevölkerung zur Folge. In der Folgezeit beschäftigte sich daher eine Reihe nationaler und internationaler Gremien mit der Abschätzung der durch die radioaktive Kontamination möglicherweise verursachten Strahlenschäden.
