Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung von neuen Behandlungsverfahren in der Onkologie hat dazu geführt, daß Krebserkrankungen heute vorwiegend chronisch verlaufen. Die Verlängerung der Lebenszeit der Patienten und die z. T. erheblichen Belastungen durch diese neue Verfahren (vor allem im Bereich der Strahlen- und Chemotherapie) haben das Interesse an der Rehabilitation Krebskranker in den vergangenen Jahren verstärkt und auf den Nachsorgebereich ausgedehnt. Dabei spielten auch die zunehmenden Erkenntnisse über die — selbst bei günstigem Krankheitsverlauf — langfristig anhaltenden psychischen Belastungen der Patienten, aber auch nahestehender Bezugspersonen eine Rolle.
