Abstract

The giant pulse quality-switched (Q-switched) Neodym YAG-laser repre sents a new endoscopic lithotripsy-system which offers the possibility of inducing mechanical shock waves by transformation of optical energy into mechanical energy. In this process occuring in the scope of the so called delectrical (opto-mechanical or optical) break-down thermal effects can be excluded (1).
