The Excimer-Laser in Orthopedics

Abstract

The first Excimer Laser was demonstrated by BASOV in 1970 (1). Depending of their physical properties Excimer Lasers emit ultraviolet radiation in very short pulses (2). This is the most important difference to the infrared lasers, the CO2- and the Neodym-Yag-Lasers, which are commonly used in medizine.
