Zusammenfassung
Gicht ist eine genetisch determinierte Stoffwechselstörung. Bereits im Altertum war bekannt, daß sie in Familien gehäuft auftritt. Wie viele Stoffwechselkrankheiten ist die Gicht aber meistens das Resultat mehrerer krankheitsbegünstigender Faktoren. Neben dem genetischen Defekt müssen zur Manifestation der Krankheit Umweltfaktoren wie die Ernährung hinzukommen. Deswegen wird nicht jeder Träger der Erbanlage klinisch krank.
