Zusammenfassung

Obwohl für die medikamentöse Schmerzbehandlung eine große Zahl von Pharmaka zur Verfügung steht, erfährt die Mehrzahl der Schmerzpatienten wegen falscher Auswahl bzw. falscher Anwendung der Analgetika keine ausreichende Linderung. Man hat festgestellt, daß drei Viertel aller Patienten, die gegen starke Schmerzen opioide Analgetika erhalten, weiterhin mittelstarke bis starke Schmerzen erleiden, da meistens der Dosisbereich zu tief und das Dosisintervall zu hoch eingeschätzt wird [7]. Dazu kommen noch ungerechtfertigte Vorurteile von Arzt, Pflegepersonal und Apotheker gegen morphinartige Analgetika.
