Zusammenfassung

Die Möglichkeit der Replantation einer amputierten Extremität hat die Phantasie vieler Chirurgen von Alexis Carrell (1906) bis in die Gegenwart angeregt. Die erste klinisch erfolgreiche Replantation gelang 1962, als Malt den amputierten rechten Arm eines 12jährigen Knaben replantierte. Wenig später gelang in Shanghai 1963 die Replantation eines distalen Unterarms. Seither wurden im Sixth People’s Hospital in Shanghai über 300 Replantationen größerer Extremitätenabschnitte und in weiteren chinesischen Zentren eine kleinere, aber ebenso eindrückliche Zahl von Replantationen durchgeführt (Abb. 17.1). In der westlichen Welt scheinen Amputationen größerer Extremitäten, welche für eine Replantation in Frage kommen, seltener zu sein.
