Abstract
In this review article we shall deal with metal catalysed skeletal reactions of hydrocarbons. The aim is to show how it is possible to recognize and demonstrate the reaction mechanisms and to correlate the changes of activity and selectivity with changes in electronic properties or changes in geometry of the metal aggregates. In spite of their great importance in petrochemistry, the mechanisms of hydrocarbons reactions on metal catalysts are much less understood [1, 2] than in homogeneous catalysis, although the latter field has been developed much more recently [3].
