Abstract

Radiologic analysis, like everything, has limitations imposed by the physical and psychological principles. New technologic advances, and computer’s use could improve image analysis but it remains very difficult to say what could be the place of automatic image analysis and treatment in a near future. In all radiologic systems, four main processes are involved;

  • physical process: creatuion of the roentgen radiation pattern its detection and transformation.

  • imaging process: specification of the X-ray image by the luminance, the contrast, the unsharpness; the noise (and signal/noise ratio).

  • psychological process with comparison to previous impressions obtained by training.

  • diagnosis.
