Abstract
The main reason for the “bad reputation” of the VB method among organic chemists whose theoretical interests were first aroused by the success of the Woodward-Hoffmann rules is the fact that the HL version of VB theory does not expose in any simple manner the origin of aromaticity and antiaromaticity.
