Summary

The study related in this paper can be considered as an attempt to evaluate the “Bouches-du-Rhône” (BDR) morbidity in hospitals, and the suitability of the ressources offered by sanitary charts. This work has been achieved by the BDR control service from data collected a given day over all the patients who were in the hospitals. (January 1, 1978)

Here are shown results applied only to medical, surgical, gynoecological and obstetrical fields. They put into relief the differences of the patient’s origins among public, private and non profit-making private sectors. High occupation rates may be then explained, but not entirely justified, by different flows of patients coming from their residence places to hospitals.

The interest of such a study is the instantaneous photography it provides of the entire set of BDR patients in hospitals.
