The determined structures
The formulae of the sulphone molecules whose molecular geometry has been determined by electron diffraction or microwave spectroscopy, are collected in Figure 4. There are more electron diffraction than microwave spectroscopic studies to date. Microwave spectroscopy has been employed for the simpler systems, and predominantly for fluorides. The chlorides and the symmetrically substituted derivatives are the largest and second largest series, and were studied mainly by electron diffraction.
