Dynamical Phenomena on Lymphocyte Membranes

The concept of a fluid membrane (Singer and Nicholson, 1972) with laterally mobile lipid and protein constituents has had considerable impact upon recent directions in immunological experimentation. In the past six years much has been learned of the general organization of the lymphocyte plasma membrane, and there is currently considerable effort being expended to develop an understanding of the structure and function of its components. Of particular interest is the finding that cellular receptors can be redistributed upon binding antigen.
