Summary

25 patients with cirrhosis of the liver, splenomegaly and thrombocytopenia were studied. With 51Cr-labeled thrombocytes life span, recovery and splenic surface activity were determined. We assume that the platelet pool in the spleen is augmented which results in an increased platelet destruction.
