Zusammenfassung

Bei den Adenoviren handelt es sich um eine Gruppe von Erregern, die einen Teil der akuten Krankheiten des Respirationstraktes bedingen. Ursächlich kommen außer den Adenoviren noch andere Viren in Betracht. Hierzu gehören die Viren der Influenza- und der Parainfluenzagruppe, einige ECHO-Viren, das respiratory syncytial-Virus, die REO-Virusgruppe, die Rhino-Viren, das Eatonagens und schließlich die Psittakosegruppe. Die klinische Bedeutung der Adenovirusgruppe ist von den gegebenen Umständen abhängig. So konnten bei der Zivilbevölkerung in 1 bis 10% der Atemwegserkrankungen Adenoviren als Ursache ermittelt werden; in abgeschlossenen Bevölkerungsgruppen dagegen wurden Epidemien beobachtet, bei denen bis zu 60% der Erkrankungen auf Adenoviren zurückgeführt werden konnten [Gwaltney u. Jordan (1963)].
