Zusammenfassung
Die Influenzaist in ihrer typischen Form eine spontan ausheilende, fieberhafte Erkrankung von 3–4tägiger Dauer. Die Krankheit tritt gewöhnlich epidemisch, gelegentlich auch pandemisch — in der Regel während der kalten Jahreszeit — auf. Sie ist durch allgemeine Krankheitszeichen (Krankheitsgefühl, Abgeschlagenheit, Schweiße, Anorexie) sowie durch katarrhalische Zeichen von Sciten des oberen Respirationstraktes gekennzeichnet. Die Symptomatologie ist nicht pathognomonisch. Grippeartige Erkrankungen können außer durch echte Influenza-Viren auch durch eine Reihe anderer Viruselemente bzw. durch Rickettsien hervorgerufen werden (Expert Comm., 1959, Stuart-Harris 1953 u. 1962, Germer 1959, Johnson U. Mitarb. 1962, Hamre U. Mitarb. 1961, Deibel 1963).
