Zusammenfassung

Die Diphtherie ist eine durch den „Löfflerschen Bazillus“ hervorgerufene Infektionskrankheit, bei der sich weißliche, festsitzende, bazillenhaltige Beläge bilden, von denen am häufigsten die Schleimhäute des Rachens, des Larynx und der Nase, gelegentlich auch Hautwunden befallen werden. Das von den Diphtheriebazillen ausgeschiedene Toxin verursacht nicht selten Schäden am Herzmuskel, an den Nebennieren, am peripheren Nervensystem und an den Vasomotoren.
