Zusammenfassung

Die Kenntnis der Prognose des Cushing-Syndroms hat an Bedeutung gewonnen, seitdem Cortison als Therapeuticum zur Verfügung steht. Die Möglichkeit einer Substitutionsbehandlung mit diesem Hormon erlaubt es heute, bei Versagen der Röntgentherapie des Cushing-Syndroms die ein- oder beidseitige Nebennierenexstirpation durchzuführen, ohne die Patienten postoperativ an Nebenniereninsuffizienz zu verlieren. Der Erfolg dieser Therapie, aber auch der Strahlenbehandlung, läßt sich nur am Verlauf der unbehandelten Krankheit ermessen. Verlaufsuntersuchungen des Cushing-Syndroms ergeben ferner eine Vorstellung von den Komplikationen, die eine Cortisonüberdosierung über längere Zeiträume zur Folge haben kann.
